Cameron Highlands

J’ai passé quelques jours à Cameron Highlands, une région à environ 1600 mètres d'altitude où l’on produit du thé, des fraises et des légumes.

I spent a few days in Cameron Highlands, a region at an altitude of about 1600 meters where they produce tea, strawberries and vegetables.

Huile de palme - Palm oil

Lorsque vous voyez un produit contenant de l'huile de palme, vous pouvez être presque sûr(e) que ce produit contribue à la destruction de la forêt tropicale (à moins que l'huile de palme ne bénéficie d'une certification appropriée). Si vous décidez de boycotter ces produits, vous avez mon soutien le plus total.

When you see a product containing palm oil, vous can be almost certain that this product contributes to the destruction of the tropical forest (unless the palm oil has got some kind of green certification). If you decide to boycott those products, I fully support you.

Taman Negara

J'ai passé quelques jours dans le parc national de Taman Negara, un superbe parc de plus de 4000 km2 dans lequel il y a des éléphants, des tigres, des léopards, des rhinoceros mais ces gands animaux sont très difficiles à voir. Je n'en ai pas vu mais des marches dans la forêt m'ont permis de ressentir la magie de ce lieu, on y entend des bruits d'animaux étranges, on ne voit presque pas le ciel tellement la végétation est dense.

I spent a few days in the Taman Negara national park, a magnificent park which covers more than 4000 sqm and in which there are elephants, tigers, leopards and rhinos but these large animals are very difficult to see. I did not see any but walks in the jungle allowed me to feel the magic of this place, we can hear strange animal sounds, we hardly see the sky because the vegetation is so dense.











Il y a dans ce parc la plus grande passerelle de canopée au monde (plus de 500 mètres de long), on y évolue jusqu'à 45 mètres du sol.

In this park, there is the longest canopy walkway in the world (over 500 meters), some parts are 45 meters above the ground.

Malaisie - Malaysia

Après 10 jours à Singapour, me voilà arrivé en Malaisie. Les 2 pays sont séparés par un bras de mer d'environ 1 km que l’on traverse par un pont. On constate rapidement que ce pays est bien plus riche que l’Indonésie, il y a beaucoup de voitures et peu de motos, c’était l’inverse en Indonésie. Il y a de grandes routes avec peu d’animation au bord de celles-ci.
Je passe ma première nuit à Johor Bahru, je suis accueilli dans le cadre du système Couchsurfing dans une très belle maison, il y a aussi un couchsurfer iranien qui est arrivé le même jour que moi, le propriétaire des lieux nous paye le restaurant.
La côte ouest étant assez peuplée, il y a beaucoup de circulation sur les routes, je décide donc de passer par la côte est.
Il y a de longues lignes droites bordées de plantations de palmiers à huile et parfois de forêt.
Je suis actuellement sur la superbe île de Tioman qui est couverte de forêts. Elle fait partie d’un parc marin protégé, il y a de magnifiques coraux et poissons, j’ai même pu nager pendant quelques minutes juste au-dessus d’une tortue, un moment absolument magique.

After 10 days in Singapore, I have arrived in Malaysia. The 2 countries are separated by a stretch of sea about 1 km wide which is crossed on a bridge. I quickly notice that this country is richer than Indonesia, there are many cars and not many motorcycles, it was the opposite in Indonesia. There are large roads with little animation on the roadside.
I spent my first night in Johor Bahru, I was staying as part of the Couchsurfing network in a very nice house, there was also an Iranian couchsurfer who arrived the same day, the owner of the place invited us to the restaurant.
The west coast being densely populated, there is a lot of traffic on the roads, therefore I decided to go along the east coast.
There are long straight stretches of road bordered by palm oil trees plantations and sometimes forest.
I am now on the beautiful Tioman island which is covered with forest. It is part of a protected marine park, there are magnificent fishes and corals, I was even able to swim during several minutes just above a turtle, it was a really magical moment.

Singapour – Singapore

J’ai essayé de trouver des informations sur les ferrys entre Java et Singapour mais n’ai pas pu en trouver. Mon visa indonésien arrivant à son terme (60 jours), je n’ai pas le temps de passer par Sumatra, j’ai donc décidé de prendre un avion entre Jakarta et Singapour où je suis arrivé le 2 août.
Singapour est très moderne et propre.
Cette ville me fait penser aux villes australiennes avec de nombreux parcs et espaces verts mais les aménagements cyclistes ici sont presque inexistants.

I tried to find information about ferries between Java and Singapore but could not find any. Because my Indonesian visa is almost over (60 days), I don’t have time to go through Sumatra, I have therefore decided to fly between Jakarta and Singapore where I arrived on August 2nd.
Singapore is very modern and clean.
This city reminds me of Australian cities with many parks but here the installations for cyclists are almost non-existent.

J'étais à Jakarta pour la journée sans voiture (en fait de 6h00 à 12h00). C'était agréable d'emprunter cette grande avenue car en temps normal la circulation et la pollution sont importantes.

I was in Jakarta for car-free day (actualy from 6am to 12pm). It was pleasant to cycle on this long and large avenue because normally the traffic and pollution are important.

Normalement les bus ont des roues :-)
