Mt Isa

After 2000 kilometers on the pushbike (plus 78 km transported), I arrived in Mt Isa.
In this mining town, I have visited a copper-lead-zinc-silver mine, all equipped
with overall, helmet, boots and miner lamp. We went into the mine using a lift and then a small underground train. It was very impressive and we can easily imagine how difficult that job must be and also how risky it is.
I also visited and underground hospital. After the Japanese attacked Darwin in 1942, some thought that Mt Isa would be attacked as well and it was decided to build an underground hospital. Mt Isa was not attacked and the hospital never had to be used as such.
To avoid hundreds of kilometers (1700 km) mostly in desert area (with mush monotony, the lack of shade and the difficulty to get water and food), I take a bus tonight to Darwin where I should arrive after a 21 hours trip.
